El Castillejo fue excavado bajo la direcci\u00f3n de Andr\u00e9s Sobejano Alcayna (1890-1969) entre el 10 de noviembre de 1924 y el 2 de mayo de 1925 con un presupuesto de 5.000 ptas. Los trabajos fueron realizados con ocho operarios que pusieron al descubierto la planta completa de la plataforma superior del edificio. Tambi\u00e9n se recuperaron diversos elementos arquitect\u00f3nicos (capiteles y basas), as\u00ed como un conjunto riqu\u00edsimo de yeser\u00edas que se reparti\u00f3 entre los museos Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional y Provincial de Murcia. Los resultados de esta intervenci\u00f3n, nunca se dieron a conocer ni se conservan los diarios, aunque se elabor\u00f3 un plano que fue publicado por Leopoldo Torres Balb\u00e1s en 1934. Fue declarado monumento nacional en 1931, pero nunca se tom\u00f3 medida alguna de protecci\u00f3n hasta que en 2018 el Ayuntamiento de Murcia ha iniciado su expropiaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
